Tour briefing and distribution of rental bikes in Schärding. Cycle along the Inn to Passau, then follow the Danube via Engelhartszell to the Schlögener Schlinge. Continue through the green Eferdinger basin to Linz, then via Enns and Grein into the Strudengau. Pass Maria Taferl and Melk Abbey before entering the Wachau. Enjoy the wine towns of Spitz and Weißenkirchen, pass Dürnstein Castle ruins, cycle through Krems and Tulln, and arrive in the Danube metropolis of Vienna.

Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival in Schärding
Tour briefing and distribution of rental bikes. Stroll through the pretty little baroque town of Schärding.
Day 2
Schärding → Upper Danube Valley ≈ 55 km
Cycle along the river Inn to the three-river city of Passau. Visit the cathedral with the largest church organ in the world (except Sundays and public holidays). Continue along the Danube via Obernzell to Engelhartszell (Austria's only Trappist monastery) and further through the Donauleiten nature reserve.
Day 3
Upper Danube Valley → Linz ≈ 55 km
Reach the Schlögener Schlinge (river bend) on the northern side — where granite forced the Danube to change direction by 180 degrees. A ferry takes you to the other bank (paid on site) to admire this natural phenomenon. Continue to Linz, where the numerous pubs in the historic old town are the perfect place to stop for a bite to eat.
Day 4
Linz → Grein ≈ 60 km
Take a detour from the Danube to Enns. Visit the town square with its 60-metre tower — the landmark of Austria's oldest town. Alternatively, explore the archaeological collection in the municipal museum Lauriacum. In the baroque town of Grein, visit Austria's oldest still-performing city theatre, the maritime museum, or Greinburg Castle.
Day 5
Grein → Wachau ≈ 50 km
Cycle the Strudengau — once feared by sailors, now a comfortable ride. In Maria Taferl and Melk, admire the magnificent churches located high above the Danube that attract thousands of visitors every year.
Day 6
Wachau → Traismauer / Surroundings ≈ 60–85 km
Continue to the 1,000-year-old town of Krems. Along the way, the monastery Göttweig sits high above the Danube, leading the way to the flowery city of Tulln.
Day 7
Traismauer / Surroundings → Vienna ≈ 40–65 km
Your tour ends in the Danube metropolis of Vienna. Visit the "Wurstelprater", the vibrant entertainment area of Vienna's Prater. In the famous "Schweizerhaus" restaurant, enjoy a piece of "Stelze" (knuckle of pork), gaining energy for further explorations of the city.
